Important Safety Information
If you are like many women, you want shorter, lighter periods. A national survey showed that 85% of women reported that periods lasting at least 1 day less would make a positive difference.† , ‡ Loestrin® 24 Fe is proven to provide periods that last fewer than 3 days on average, with less bleeding. *

How It Works

Most birth control pills contain two hormones, estrogen and progestin. Loestrin® 24 Fe contains the estrogen “ethinyl estradiol” and the progestin “norethindrone acetate”. These hormones prevent pregnancy mostly by stopping the growth and release of an egg (ovulation).

Loestrin® 24 Fe is different from most birth control pills in that you take 24 active pills instead of 21. Because of the hormones in the 3 extra white, active pills of Loestrin® 24 Fe, your period may last fewer days, and your uterine lining may not build up as much, so there may be less menstrual flow. *

The Loestrin® 24 Fe pack comes with 24 white, active pills and 4 inactive brown, reminder pills. The brown pills contain iron. These pills keep you in the habit of taking your pill and remind you when it is time to start a new pack.

Are Shorter Periods OK?

It’s perfectly fine to have shorter, lighter periods with Loestrin® 24 Fe. The hormones from the 3 extra days of active pills of Loestrin® 24 Fe result in less build up on the uterine lining. Less build up simply means there is less menstrual flow. The result is a shorter period with less bleeding. *

*On average, by Cycle 6.

Harris Interactive® conducted an online survey, commissioned by Warner Chilcott, from March 9th–13th and March 15th–17th of 2006 among a nationwide sample of 1342 women aged 18–49, of whom 701 were 18–34. The data were weighted to be representative of the total US adult population on the basis of region, age within gender, education, household income, race/ethnicity, and propensity of the respondent to be online. In theory, for probability samples of this size, the 95% confidence interval would be ±4%.
