What’s So Special About Loestrin® 24 Fe?
Loestrin® 24 Fe provides effective birth control with many other advantages:
Gives Women The Shorter, Lighter Periods They Want
In a national survey of women, 60% of those 18 to 34 years old reported having periods lasting 5 or more days. In the same survey, 85% of women said that having a period at least 1 day shorter would make a positive difference.† ‡
Shorter, Lighter Periods...What's That About?
Loestrin® 24 Fe is different from most birth control pills in that you take 24 active pills instead of 21. Because of the hormones in the 3 extra white, active pills of Loestrin® 24 Fe, your period may last fewer days, and your uterine lining may not build up as much, so there may be less menstrual flow. Loestrin® 24 Fe is clinically proven to shorten periods (averaging fewer than 3 days) and lighten periods (with less bleeding). *
One Pill Suits Many
Loestrin® 24 Fe suits many different women with different needs. In fact, Loestrin® 24 Fe is the only birth control pill that has been studied in women across the reproductive age span
(18 to 45 years old) with different body types (90 to 250 pounds).
The Low-down on the Low Dose
Loestrin® 24 Fe contains the lowest oral dose of estrogen (20 micrograms) available for effective birth control. Compared with higher doses, low-dose birth control has been shown to help reduce side effects, such as weight gain, breast tenderness, and upset stomach. In a clinical study, the most commonly reported side effects of Loestrin® 24 Fe were headache, yeast infection, and upper respiratory tract infection. These are not all of the side effects associated with Loestrin® 24 Fe. For more information, see the Patient Prescribing Information.

Starting Loestrin® 24 Fe
Choose the day to begin your first pack of Loestrin® 24 Fe. For instance, you may want to avoid having your period on the weekend. Talk to your doctor about which day works best for you.
Taking Loestrin® 24 Fe Every Day
Choose a convenient time to take your pill. You should take your pill around the same time every day. For example, take your pill in the morning or evening before brushing your teeth. This helps ensure a steady level of hormones to prevent pregnancy and breakthrough bleeding or spotting between periods. It also gets you into the habit of taking your pill regularly, because missing pills increases your risk of breakthrough bleeding or spotting between periods and unplanned pregnancy. For more information on what to do if you miss a pill, see the section "Taking Loestrin® 24 Fe" in the FAQs. For assistance remembering your dose, you may wish to sign up for our Daily Reminders.
Give Loestrin® 24 Fe Enough Time to Work
You may experience light bleeding or spotting between your monthly periods during the first 1 to 3 pill packs. However, do not stop taking your birth control pills – the light bleeding or spotting will usually go away. See your doctor if light bleeding or spotting continues after 3 months or if bleeding is persistent or prolonged.

†Harris Interactive® conducted an online survey, commissioned by Warner Chilcott, from March 9th–13th and
March 15th–17th of 2006 among a nationwide sample of 1342 women aged 18–49, of whom 701 were 18–34. The data were weighted to be representative of the total US adult population on the basis of region, age within gender, education, household income, race/ethnicity, and propensity of the respondent to be online. In theory, for probability samples of this size, the 95% confidence interval would be ±4%.
